Anushka Sharma is an Indian film actress, producer and former model. In 2008, she was signed by Aditya Chopra for a three-film contract with Yash Raj Films and consequently made her acting debut in Chopra's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. She later received critical acclaim for her role as an ambitious wedding planner in the 2010 romantic comedy Band Baaja Baaraat.
She won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for portraying a documentary filmmaker in the Yash Chopra-directed romance Jab Tak Hai Jaan. She had her biggest commercial successes with the roles of a television reporter in the fantasy drama PK (2014) and a wrestler in the sports drama Sultan (2016), both of which rank among the highest-grossing Indian films of all time. In 2015, she starred and co-produced the crime thriller NH10, which garnered her critical acclaim, and appeared alongside an ensemble cast in the comedy-drama Dil Dhadakne Do.
Anushka Sharma is the ambassador for multiple brands and has an active social media presence. She also supports multiple charities and causes, including gender equality and animal rights. She and her brother are the founders of the production company Clean Slate Films.
In 2016, Sharma has completed work on her next production venture entitled Phillauri, a romantic comedy featuring Sharma alongside Diljit Dosanjh and Suraj Sharma, as well as Karan Johar's romantic drama Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai. She has also started filming for Imtiaz Ali's next film, which will mark her third collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan.
In 2016, she featured on The Times of India 's 'Most Engaging on Twitter' list of Hindi film actors. Filmfare magazine's fashion poll of 2015 voted her as being "Amazing with Androgyny" and said that "...[she] has carved a niche for her easy breezy high street style." She also featured on Verve magazine's "Best Dressed 2015" list.
